WELCOME TO DAKOTA DUNS QUARTER HORSES!
Dakota Duns specializes in breeding American Quarter Horses (AQHA registered) and American Paint horses (APHA registered) that specifically carry the DUN gene. Putting color and loud dun factor behind conformation and a great pedigree of well known performance horses is what we strive for! We are a family operation located in north central South Dakota, about 30 miles east of Lake Oahe and the Missouri River. We have added some very nice mares with high percentage foundation lines into our stock. HOLLYWOOD DUN IT is a regular name that you will find in our pedigrees, along with Poco Bueno, Blackburn, Doc Bar, and the great Little Steel Dust!
We currently stand three stallions at our ranch. THIS DUDES BAD "Badger" is our herd stallion. He is sired by Ladies Smoky Dude who now resides in Australia. His pedigree goes back to the great stallion Doc Bar! I have been extremely pleased with the foals that he has sired for us these past 7 years! Watch for updates on his offspring and their performance records! We offer foals sired by This Dudes Bad for sale every year. Most will register in high percentage with NFQHA. Badger is homozygous black, homozygous dun, carries a single cream gene as well as dominant 20 and is 6-panel n/n. Badger is also available to outside mares via shipped, frozen semen. Please contact us for 2023 rates. Badger's foals sell out fast, so when you find that special one, contact us right away!
KROS CASINO CASH "Cash", comes from a long line of proven ranch sires located right here in South Dakota. He is a big-bodied stallion and stands at 16 hands. He has a calm, gentle temperament and is very easy to get along with! We had him broke out in the spring of 2020 and he is showing us his great cow sense out in our pastures. Cash had his first foals on the ground in 2020, with a majority carrying the splash white gene that he had passed on. I expect a colorful foal crop out of this guy in 2023! Cash is homozygous black and carries a single copy of the splash white 1 gene. He is also 5-panel n/n.
New to our ranch in 2020 is a stallion that we have very high expectations for, GENUINE SILVERNIC "Journey". Journey has spent 2020 with trainer Kirk Hall of Edgemont, SD. He is unshown due to financial constraints, but is used here right at home on our ranch. He sired his first foal crop of 5 foals in 2022. He will be covering most of our Hollywood Dun It bred mares, as well as our Mr Gunsmoke, Reminic, and Gunner bred mares. Journey is homozygous for the dun gene as well as 6-panel N/N. He will not stand to the public at this time.
Foals will be offered for sale every year as they arrive. Take a look! Payment plans accepted through weaning. We do have a contact list if you would like to be notified of a foal's arrival. Feel free to call or email us with any questions that you may have.
